2008 Season - Training Camp Update
Draft Day
The second biggest sporting event of the summer (The Beijing Olympics) has resulted in the biggest sporting event of the summer being moved. The 2008 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft will take place at 7pm on Friday evening August 29th. The first game of the season Redskins @ Giants is the following Thursday September 4th. Due to work commitments Trading Day 1 is likely to be on Sunday 12th October before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 likely to be on Sunday 16th November before week 11. Put these in your diary.
Franchise Players
The time for the selection of our 2008-9 Franchise players has arrived, you must supply the name of your new Franchise Man by June 30th. To help out a few bits of research are on the way. Firstly attached is the final table with each players teams (so you can remember who you had on your squad in the first place) and how much they will cost you for the next two years if you Franchise them. Remember if you cut your franchise player you still pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. This year big names becoming available include Superbowl XLII winning QB Eli Manning, record setting QB Tom Brady, running backs Stephen Jackson, Larry Johnson & Rudi Johnson, receiver Larry Fitzgerald and kicker Shane Graham as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with the rookies - the rookie report (attached) details the players from the first two rounds of the NFL Draft who may be available to us this season, together with who signed them. A couple of BUMS regulars are currently unsigned as RB’s Shaun Alexander & Kevin Jones have been released by Seattle & Detroit respectively. Key player moves this off-season have seen RBs Julius Jones & Michael Turner and Receivers Bernard Berrian, Isaac Bruce, Alge Crumpler, Bubba Franks, DJ Hackett, Darrell Jackson, Jerry Porter, Donte Stallworth, Javon Walker and Ernest Wilford all moving teams. Team Nicknames
If you wish to change your teams nickname you can do so, again this should be with me by June 30th. They started as The French Letters, became The French Frogs and my money is on them becoming The French Fries for Mr Stamp’s franchise this year.
So that’s it… 2 things to email me by the end of next month.
1) Your 2008-9 Franchise player and 2) New team nickname if a change is required.
